Just learned that sometimes heat pumps get noisy because of vibrations traveling through walls or floors. Someone mentioned rubber isolation pads under the unit can help a lot...anyone tried this or got other tricks to quiet things down?

Yeah, those pads can definitely help. Had a similar issue at my placeβheat pump was vibrating through the floor joists and driving me nuts. I put some thick rubber isolation pads underneath, and it cut down the noise quite a bit. Didn't completely silence it, but made it way more tolerable. Also, double-check if the mounting bolts are overtightened...loosening them slightly can sometimes reduce vibration transfer too.
