What should a whole-house greywater reuse quote spell out?
I’d want to compare more than the plumbing labor and the price of a tank. Should the proposal identify which greywater sources would feed the system and where the treated water would be reused, then itemize filtration, pumps, controls, and any potable-water backup protection?
I’m also unsure how to compare the less visible parts of the scope. Should permits, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance be priced separately, with clear notes on who handles each? What tends to get left vague in these quotes?

Yes. The proposal should name the greywater sources and intended reuse locations, then describe the filtration, pumps, controls and potable-water backup protection included - not just give one equipment allowance. It should also state what permits and commissioning include, whether they are priced, and who is responsible. For maintenance, ask for the tasks, frequency, price or pricing basis, and any owner duties. List assumptions, exclusions and unpriced work so a low total isn’t simply hiding a narrower scope.
