Yeah, seeing a filter all gunked up in person really drives it home. Incentives are nice, but honestly, most folks just don’t realize how nasty things can get if you skip maintenance. I always worry about people skipping steps and causing leaks or backups... safety first, right?

Honestly, I get the safety concerns, but I think people underestimate how simple some of this maintenance can be. Filters and traps aren’t rocket science—if you give tenants clear instructions and maybe a reminder now and then, most folks can handle it. I’ve had more issues with overcomplicating things than with people skipping steps. Sometimes too many warnings just make folks tune out.

Totally get what you mean. I’ve seen people just glaze over when you hand them a thick manual or start rattling off every possible thing that could go wrong. Honestly, the filter in my own rainwater setup is just a quick rinse every few weeks—nothing wild. I think if you show folks how easy it is, they’re way more likely to keep up with it. Overcomplicating just scares people off, and then nothing gets done.
