Yeah, totally agree about the “maintenance-free” claims—never seen one actually live up to that. I’ve noticed people underestimate how much hair and gunk ends up in those filters, especially if you’ve got long-haired folks in the house. And UV is great, but only if you keep up with the pre-filtering like you said. I’ve seen setups where folks skip a step and end up with a science experiment growing in their pipes. Not fun to clean out, trust me.
