Slow drainage at a grease trap doesn’t tell me where the restriction is

When a fixture drains slowly near a grease trap, what observations help distinguish a trap restriction from a downstream drain problem or a blocked vent? Slow drainage alone doesn’t seem specific enough, and a trap that isn’t visibly overflowing doesn’t rule out a partial blockage.

Would bubbling or gurgling change how you’d narrow it down? I’d also be interested in whether the number of affected fixtures is a useful clue, and whether improvement after the trap is serviced helps separate the possibilities.
