Okay, seriously, did anyone else have a total nightmare with their grease trap install? Had mine done last month, and it's been nothing but headaches since. Weird odors popping up randomly, slow drainage issues...you name it. Called the plumber back twice already—he keeps saying everything's "fine," but um, clearly it's not fine if my kitchen smells like old french fries half the time. Wondering if this is just bad luck or if others had similar messy experiences with theirs.

Had a similar issue when we first installed ours. The plumber insisted everything checked out, but the smell was awful—like rancid cooking oil mixed with something worse. Turns out the venting wasn't set up properly, even though he swore it was "fine." Had another guy come take a look, and he found the problem pretty quick. Took maybe an hour to fix, and it's been smooth sailing since.

Did your plumber check the venting thoroughly? Because weird smells and slow drainage usually point to airflow or vent problems rather than the trap itself being faulty. Might be worth having someone else double-check that angle...

- Venting definitely can cause issues, but I've seen cases where the grease trap itself was actually undersized or improperly installed.
- Sometimes plumbers overlook sizing because they're following standard guidelines without considering actual kitchen usage.
- Did anyone check if your trap size matches your kitchen's grease output? Might be worth a quick look—could save you from chasing venting issues that aren't there.
- Just throwing it out there since I've seen it happen before...
