Yeah, once it’s solid, enzymes are just wishful thinking. I’ve seen folks dump half a bottle down and wonder why nothing happens. Snakes or even a wet vac can work wonders if you know what you’re doing. Prevention’s key, though—grease is the main culprit, but coffee grounds and eggshells don’t help either. Honestly, most clogs I clear are just years of “little things” adding up. People underestimate how fast that stuff builds up.

Yeah, dumping enzymes down a solid clog is like hoping a goldfish will eat through a brick wall. I’ve tried the wet vac trick—messy but weirdly satisfying when it works. Grease is evil, but I swear rice is sneaky too. That stuff turns into cement if you’re not careful...

Totally agree about the rice—who knew it could be worse than grease sometimes? I started composting food scraps just to keep stuff like that out of the pipes. It’s wild how much less gunk ends up in the sink now. I used to think hot water would just wash everything away, but nope... learned that lesson the hard way last winter.

Rice is sneaky for sure—seen more than a few pipes packed solid with it over the years. Grease gets all the blame, but leftover rice is like glue once it dries out. Composting’s a smart move. Hot water only does so much... learned that one myself after a late-night call to clear a drain.

Can’t argue with that. I’ve had tenants swear up and down they never put food down the drain, then I pull out a wad of rice the size of a golf ball. Grease gets blamed, but honestly, rice and pasta are just as bad—maybe worse since folks don’t think twice about rinsing them away. Compost bin’s the only thing that’s worked long-term. Hot water just moves the mess further down the line.
