"Makes me wonder if battery levels can cause false alarms?"

Yeah, I think low batteries definitely play a role. Had mine go off randomly last year—scared me half to death. Swapped batteries and it's been quiet since...guess detectors get cranky when they're running low.

Battery issues can definitely cause false alarms, but sometimes it's dust or debris buildup inside the sensor. Had one keep going off even after fresh batteries—cleaned it out with compressed air and problem solved. Worth checking before blaming batteries every time.

Had a similar issue last winter—detector kept going off randomly, drove me nuts. Thought it was batteries too, swapped them out twice before realizing dust had built up inside. Quick blast of compressed air and it was fine after that. Honestly, these detectors are great but they're sensitive little gadgets... gotta keep 'em clean or they'll give you a heart attack at 2am.

Yeah, those detectors can be a bit twitchy. Dust buildup is definitely common, but I've also seen humidity cause false alarms—especially if they're placed near bathrooms or kitchens. Had a client once whose detector went off every time they took a hot shower. Ended up moving it to a drier spot and problem solved. They're handy devices, no doubt, but placement matters just as much as maintenance... gotta keep an eye on both or you'll be chasing ghosts at midnight.

Haha, chasing ghosts at midnight sounds about right... been there! Had mine go off once because of a scented candle—talk about sensitive. Still, better twitchy than silent when it counts, right? Glad you sorted yours out.
