Disposal hums when the dishwasher drains
A disposal that hums without turning during dishwasher drainage seems like it could involve the disposal, the drain path, or the dishwasher’s hose connection, but the timing alone doesn’t tell me which.
Has the disposal hummed when switched on at another time, or is the hum only noticed while the dishwasher is draining? Does water back up into the sink or dishwasher? I’m also curious what clues around the air gap or high loop, and the dishwasher-hose connection at the disposal inlet, would help narrow it down. What’s reasonable to check without opening up the disposal, and when is it better to stop and call a plumber?
