That floating pipe thing is wild—happened to me last spring, and I swear it looked like a snake slithering out of the ground. I’m with you on the gravel and wrap, though I’ve started using recycled glass aggregate instead of all gravel. It’s pricier, but supposedly better for drainage and less attractive to roots. Still, nothing’s ever totally root-proof... nature always finds a way.
