Had a little plumbing disaster last weekend (pipe burst under the kitchen sink, yay me 🙄), and while chatting with the repair guy, he casually mentioned that water damage repairs can sometimes cost more than fire damage repairs. Like, seriously? I always assumed fire would be way worse, but apparently water seeps into everythingβwalls, floors, insulationβand can cause mold issues later on, making repairs super complicated and expensive.
He said sometimes people underestimate how quickly water damage spreads, and by the time they notice, it's already done a ton of hidden damage. Now I'm paranoid about every little drip or leak around the house, lol.
Has anyone else heard this before or dealt with surprise water damage bills? Curious if this is common knowledge or if I'm just late to the party as usual...
