I get the logic behind paying for a pro inspection, but honestly, $150 still feels steep if they’re just doing a quick walk-through. I’d want to see them actually check pressure, maybe run a camera if there’s any suspicion. I’ve seen people skip the crawlspace and call it good... not cool. If you’re going to pay, make sure they’re thorough—otherwise, you’re just paying for peace of mind, not real prevention.

Honestly, $150 isn’t crazy if they’re actually doing the job right—pressure test, camera, crawlspace, the works. But yeah, if it’s just a flashlight and a clipboard, you’re basically paying for someone to tell you what you already know. I’ve seen folks skip the crawlspace too... that’s where half the problems hide. If you’re shelling out, make sure they get dirty. Otherwise, you might as well just cross your fingers and hope nothing bursts at 2am.
