I hear you on the battery thing—my tenants with little kids burn through them way faster than expected.

I’ve caught mine just standing there, triggering the water over and over like it’s some kind of magic trick.
Happens all the time. Have you run into any issues with sensors acting up or misfiring? I’ve had a couple models where the sensor gets fussy if there’s soap splatter or water spots, and suddenly it’s like playing whack-a-mole trying to get it to turn off. Curious if that’s just me or a common headache.

Yeah, I’ve had that happen—soap splatter definitely seems to confuse the sensors sometimes. I’ve even seen them go off just from sunlight hitting at the wrong angle. Have you tried any brands that seem less prone to these random misfires?

Haha, yeah, my kitchen tap basically starts a water show every time the sun comes through the window. I swear it’s more sensitive than my old smoke alarm. I tried switching to a Moen model—still gets confused by soap, but at least it doesn’t freak out when I walk by with a sandwich. Guess it’s just part of the “touchless” charm...

That sunlight issue is more common than people think. I’ve seen a few installs where the sensor points right at a window, and the thing just keeps triggering every time the light shifts. Had one client who thought their house was haunted because the faucet would randomly turn on and off—turned out it was just the afternoon glare bouncing off a toaster.

Honestly, most of these touchless models are super picky about placement. If the sensor’s too close to a reflective surface or even a shiny countertop, you’re gonna have problems. I always recommend testing out the sensor’s range before finalizing the install, but sometimes you just can’t avoid those weird triggers, especially in bright kitchens.

And yeah, soap on your hands or even a dish towel can confuse them. It’s not perfect tech yet, but it does cut down on mess if you can live with the occasional surprise spray. Just wish the manufacturers would make the sensors a bit smarter...

Yeah, those sensors can be a real pain. I thought I was being clever putting one in our kitchen, but now it’s like playing roulette every time I walk by with groceries. Sometimes it won’t turn on at all, other times it sprays me when I’m just reaching for a mug. Didn’t expect to have to “aim” my hands so carefully just to get water. Still, less mess on the handles, so I guess that’s a win... sort of.
