Should a showerhead swap quote assume the arm is reusable?

How should a quote for replacing a showerhead account for the shower arm? If the arm is corroded, seized, or leaking where it enters the wall, that seems like a different scope from a straightforward head replacement.

Is it reasonable to ask whether the quoted price assumes the existing arm can be reused, and what labor or parts would be added if it needs replacing? If the connection inside the wall is damaged, what should the plumber explain and get approval for before proceeding?

Yes - the quote can state that it covers replacing the showerhead while reusing the existing arm, and list the added labor and parts if the arm also needs replacement. If the plumber finds damage at the in-wall connection, ask them to explain the proposed repair and its cost before proceeding, and approve that expanded scope first.
