Yep, vinegar's a solid trick—but sometimes the rubber nozzles themselves degrade or warp over time. Had one showerhead that just refused to behave after multiple cleanings... ended up replacing just the nozzle insert. Cheap fix, zero hassle. Ever checked if yours is removable?

Been there myself—sometimes cleaning just won't cut it if the rubber's too far gone. Good call on swapping the insert; that's usually quick and safe enough. Just make sure to double-check the fitting afterward... had a friend who rushed it, didn't seat it properly, and ended up with an accidental indoor sprinkler system. Glad yours worked out smoothly though.

Haha, accidental indoor sprinkler system... been there, done that. Honestly, sometimes it's not even the rubber inserts—I've seen showerheads where the threading itself was worn or stripped. No amount of cleaning or insert swapping fixes that mess. Had to replace the whole head once because it kept spraying sideways no matter what I tried. Glad yours was an easier fix though, saves a trip to the hardware store.

Haha, yep, the sideways spray is a classic—it's practically a rite of passage for shower maintenance. Thread wear can definitely sneak up on you, sometimes even plumber's tape can't save the day. Glad it wasn't a full replacement ordeal for you this time...small victories count!

Sideways spray is definitely one of those "welcome to the club" moments. I've seen more showerheads go rogue than I care to count, and you're right—thread wear is sneaky. People underestimate how quickly those threads can degrade, especially if the showerhead gets adjusted frequently. Plumber's tape is great, but it's not magic; sometimes the threads are just too far gone.

Honestly, though, good on you for catching it before it turned into a full-blown replacement job. I've had clients who ignored the sideways spray for months until it became a full-on geyser situation. By then, you're looking at replacing more than just the showerhead—sometimes even tiles or drywall if water damage sets in. Small victories like yours save a lot of headaches (and cash) down the line.

One thing I'd suggest, if you haven't already, is checking the water pressure. High pressure can speed up thread wear and cause fittings to loosen faster. A simple pressure regulator can make a huge difference in extending the life of your fixtures. It's one of those small investments that pays off big-time in the long run.

Anyway, sounds like you've got things under control for now. Shower maintenance isn't glamorous, but it's satisfying when you get it right...or at least mostly right.
