"Don't poke around with metal tools—easy way to scratch or damage the spray holes."
Definitely learned that lesson myself... scratched mine up pretty good once trying to get the gunk out with a paperclip. Another tip I'd add: check the tiny ball joint where the showerhead pivots. Sometimes mineral build-up there restricts movement, causing weird spray angles. A quick clean and bit of plumber's grease usually sorts it right out. Just don't overdo the grease, unless you like surprise mid-shower adjustments.
Good call on the ball joint—I hadn't even thought of that. Has anyone tried soaking the whole showerhead in vinegar overnight instead of poking around? Wondering if that's effective enough or just a waste of vinegar...

I actually tried that vinegar soak a couple months back when mine was spraying everywhere except down—definitely helped loosen up some mineral buildup, but didn't completely fix the rogue spray problem. Ended up still having to poke a few holes with a toothpick afterward. So, it's not a total waste, but might not be the magic fix you're hoping for...
Yeah, vinegar soak usually helps a bit, but if the buildup's heavy, you'll still need manual cleaning. Also, careful with poking—seen tenants damage showerheads that way. Gentle pressure works best.
"Gentle pressure works best."
Definitely learned that the hard way myself... last month, got a bit too enthusiastic poking at the build-up with a toothpick and ended up widening some of the spray holes. Now my showerhead feels like it's trying to water the entire bathroom rather than just me. Vinegar soak was okay, but I had more luck with a soft toothbrush after soaking—much safer bet. Anyone tried something else gentle but effective?
