- Good call on ditching the cheap fixtures—seen way too many hidden leaks from those.
- Curious though, did you ever figure out exactly how the water got behind your wall? Usually, a wonky showerhead sprays outward, not backward into the wall cavity...
- Wonder if maybe there was a loose connection or cracked fitting behind the tile that made things worse. Did you end up checking behind the wall at all when you fixed it?
Could be a cracked fitting, sure, but honestly I've seen water sneak behind walls from something as simple as worn-out caulking or grout. If the seal around your fixtures or tiles isn't solid, water can easily seep in and run down behind the wall without you noticing. Did you check the grout lines and caulk joints closely? Sometimes it's the small stuff that causes the biggest headaches...
Yeah, grout and caulk can be sneaky culprits for sure. When I moved into my place, I thought I had a major plumbing disaster—turned out the previous owners just slapped some fresh caulk over old moldy stuff. Looked fine at first glance but water was still getting through. Did you notice if the caulk feels squishy or crumbly in spots? Could be a sign it's not sealing properly anymore...
Yeah, caulk can definitely fool you—seen plenty of showers where it looks fine but water sneaks right behind. Also worth checking if the showerhead itself has mineral buildup... sometimes that's the real culprit behind rogue sprays.

Totally agree—mineral buildup is sneaky like that. One quick trick is to soak your showerhead overnight in vinegar (just unscrew and submerge it in a bowl). If that doesn't fix it, you might wanna check the inside washer too. Seen plenty of worn or cracked washers causing uneven sprays. Easy fix though—just pop in a new one and you're usually good to go.
