Yeah, those adhesives never hold up for me either—especially in the bathroom with all the steam. About the rogue shower spray, have you checked if the showerhead’s just clogged or gunked up? Sometimes a quick soak in vinegar helps, but if it’s cracked or warped, might be time for a new one. I’ve had one that started spraying sideways because of mineral buildup... made the whole bathroom floor a slip hazard.

Had a customer once who thought their shower was haunted—water shooting out at all angles, soaking the ceiling, the works. Turned out the faceplate was cracked right where the threads meet, so no amount of cleaning helped. Vinegar’s great for buildup, but if you see any hairline splits or if it feels wobbly, you’re probably better off swapping it out. Some of those cheap plastic heads just don’t last in hard water areas... seen it a hundred times.

- Had a similar mess at my aunt’s place—she swore the shower was possessed. Water was spraying out the side, bouncing off the wall, and dripping from the light fixture.
- Checked for buildup first (vinegar soak, toothbrush scrub), but it didn’t help much.
- Turned out the plastic around the threads had a tiny split, almost invisible unless you really looked for it.
- I’m not convinced all those cheap heads are worth even a year in hard water. Some of them just warp or crack way too fast.
- If the head feels loose or you see any flex when you tighten it, probably time to just get a new one.
- One thing though—sometimes people overtighten and that can crack the plastic too. Not always just hard water’s fault.
- Metal heads cost more but seem to last longer, at least from what I’ve seen so far.

Honestly, if you’re getting sprayed in the face every morning, it’s probably not ghosts... just a busted showerhead.

That’s a good point, but I’ve seen splits even when folks barely tighten them. Some of these cheaper heads just seem brittle from the start. Honestly, sometimes it’s just luck if they last more than a year. Metal’s better, but I’ve run into some that corroded way faster than expected too... depends on the water and brand, I guess.

Yeah, I hear you on the plastic ones. I went through two “budget” shower heads last year, and both cracked right at the threads—didn’t matter how careful I was. Ended up with water spraying sideways into my closet once, which was a fun surprise... Metal’s been hit or miss too. Got a “stainless” one that started rusting after six months, so now I just watch for deals and cross my fingers.

Honestly, I think sometimes it comes down to luck and whatever batch you get. Some of these things just aren’t made to last, no matter what the packaging says. It’s a pain to keep replacing them, but at least swapping them out isn’t too hard. You’re definitely not alone in this mess—seems like everyone’s got a story about their shower going wild.
