my shower's gone rogue and sprays everywhere but down
Inline filter’s actually been a game changer for me - less gunk, less scrubbing. Yeah, it’s another thing to swap out every few months, but I’d rather do that than fight with crusty nozzles all the time. Worth it if your water’s super hard.
I get the appeal of inline filters, but I’m still not totally sold. I tried one a while back and it helped a bit, but I still had to poke at the nozzles every few weeks. Maybe my water’s just that bad? Did you notice any drop in pressure after adding the filter? That was my main gripe - felt like I was showering under a leaky faucet half the time.

Yeah, pressure drop is a real thing with some filters, especially if your water’s already got a lot of sediment. I had to try two different brands before finding one that didn’t choke the flow. Still get some buildup, but it’s way less than before. If you’re poking at the nozzles every few weeks, your water might just be extra rough... not much any filter can do about that except slow it down.
Honestly, I’m not convinced every filter kills the pressure that much. I grabbed a cheap inline one off Amazon - nothing fancy - and didn’t notice a huge difference. Maybe it’s more about how clogged up your showerhead is to begin with? I took mine apart and soaked it in vinegar, and that helped way more than swapping filters. Sometimes it’s just years of gunk in the head itself, not the filter’s fault.
Vinegar soak is definitely underrated. I tried a filter once and honestly, the pressure drop was barely noticeable - what really made a difference was popping off the showerhead and seeing all the mineral crud inside. Ever try poking out the rubber nozzles? Sometimes it’s just one or two blocked jets making everything spray sideways.
