Okay, so my kitchen sink decided to clog itself again (yay me 🙄). Usually I just grab whatever drain cleaner is cheapest at the store, but I'm starting to wonder if maybe spending a bit more actually makes a difference. Quick poll time—do you guys stick with the cheap stuff, splurge on the pricier brands, or skip chemicals altogether and go straight for the plunger or snake? Curious what everyone else does...
Honestly, chemical drain cleaners can sometimes do more harm than good in the long run—especially if you have older pipes. I've seen plenty of cases where repeated chemical use weakened plumbing over time. Usually, a plunger or snake is your safest bet, and they're reusable too. If the clogging keeps happening regularly though, might be worth looking into what's causing it. Do you notice it's mostly grease buildup, or something else that's consistently causing trouble?
I've always been wary of those chemical cleaners too—seems like pouring harsh stuff down your pipes regularly can't be good long-term. Has anyone tried those enzyme-based cleaners instead...do they actually work, or is it mostly marketing hype?
