Do septic systems need routine enzyme drain treatments?
Are enzyme products marketed for septic-tank maintenance useful as routine upkeep, or do they mostly add cost when there isn’t a problem? I’d want to check the label’s septic-compatibility claim, but I’m not sure that means the product is needed or beneficial for the tank.
A slow drain seems like a separate issue from routine septic maintenance. What established septic guidance do you follow on adding tank treatments, and would you use a drain cleaner only for a specific drain problem?

I’d treat “septic-compatible” as a limit on what the product claims to tolerate, not evidence that routine dosing benefits a healthy tank. On a budget, I’d skip it unless a specific need is identified and reliable guidance supports that use. A slow drain is a separate diagnosis: I’d choose any cleaner for that particular drain by its label and the situation, rather than assuming a tank treatment will help.
