Saving water in the shower actually worked for me

- Totally agree on the adjustable spray patterns—makes a world of difference.
- I’ve tried a few “ultra-low flow” heads and yeah, some just dribble. Ended up swapping one out after a week because it took forever to rinse shampoo.
-

“not all pipes are created equal.”
That’s for sure. My old house has narrow pipes, so even a decent shower head can feel weak.
- Anyone had luck with those aerated models? They claim to boost pressure but I’m skeptical. Worth the extra bucks or just marketing?

Aerated shower heads are a bit of a mixed bag in my experience. They can make it feel like there’s more pressure, but sometimes it’s just a lot of air and not much water—kind of like getting misted at the produce section. I’ve seen folks swear by them, but if your pipes are already narrow, you might just end up with a fancy breeze instead of a proper rinse. Personally, I’d rather have a solid spray than play roulette with “air power.”

I get what you mean about the “produce section mist”—that’s a pretty accurate description. I tried an aerated head when I moved in, hoping to save water, but honestly, it felt like I was just standing in a draft. Ended up switching back to a regular low-flow model. Still, it’s cool that these work for some people. Guess it really depends on your plumbing and what you’re used to.

Yeah, I get that “produce mist” vibe too—those ultra-aerated heads just never did it for me. Tried one a while back and honestly, I felt like I was chasing the water around the tub just to rinse off. Maybe it’s my old pipes or maybe I’m just picky, but I went back to a basic WaterSense model. It’s not fancy, but at least I don’t freeze mid-shower. Some folks swear by those misters though... guess it really is all about what you’re used to.

I hear you on the misty shower heads. Tried one of those “rain” styles once and it just felt like standing in a cold fog. The WaterSense models are a good compromise—still save water, but you don’t have to spend forever rinsing out shampoo. Sometimes simple just works better.
