Lately I've been dealing with my bathroom sink draining slower than usual (ugh, gross), and I figured I'd get ahead of the game before it turns into a full-blown clog. Did some googling around, and seems like two popular options are those little mesh drain screens to catch hair and stuff, or enzyme-based cleaners that supposedly break down gunk naturally.

I've tried those screens before and they do catch a lot of stuff, but honestly they're kinda annoying to clean out regularly. On the other hand, enzyme cleaners sound pretty low-maintenance, but do they actually work as well as advertised? I'm a little skeptical about pouring something down the drain and just trusting it'll magically eat away all the buildup.

Curious if anyone here has experience with both methods and can weigh in on which one is more effective or less of a hassle. Or maybe there's another option I'm totally overlooking...

I've used enzyme cleaners a few times, and honestly, they're hit or miss. They do work decently if you're consistent about using them regularly, but if you've already got a noticeable slowdown, they might not be enough to clear it completely. They're better as a preventative measure rather than a quick fix.

One thing you didn't mention that I've found super handy is a drain snake (or one of those cheap plastic drain sticks with little barbs). Yeah, it's kinda gross pulling out the gunk manually, but it's quick, effective, and you only have to do it every few months. Plus, no chemicals involved, which is a nice bonus if you're trying to be eco-friendly.

Screens are okay, but like you said, cleaning them out constantly gets old fast. I'd rather spend five minutes every couple months with a drain stick than deal with that weekly chore. Just my two cents...
