Okay, so I'm trying to install a dishwasher myself (first time DIY-ing this kinda thing, wish me luck lol). Got the electrical sorted out, but now I'm stuck on the plumbing part. The dishwasher drain hose seems way too short to reach my sink drain pipe comfortably. I mean, it reaches, but it's stretched pretty tight and I'm worried it'll leak or something over time.
Also, I've read something about needing an air gap or a high loop to prevent backflow? Honestly, I'm a bit confused about what exactly that means or if it's even necessary. My buddy said he never bothered with one and his dishwasher works fine, but you know... he's also the guy who duct-tapes everything, so I'm skeptical.
Is there some kind of extension hose I can safely use, or do I need to rearrange my plumbing setup under the sink? And what's the deal with this air gap/high loop thing—is it really important or just one of those "technically recommended but nobody does it" kinda things?
Any advice appreciated, plumbing is definitely not my strong suit haha.
