That's actually a clever adaptation—I hadn't considered gardening supplies for plumbing labeling. As someone who's recently moved into my first home, I'm still figuring out the best ways to kee...

I've actually tried the plastic markers too, and they're surprisingly sturdy. But honestly, I'm still a bit skeptical about paint pens holding up long-term outdoors...maybe depends on climate? I've had better luck with grease pencils—messier, but they survive rain and sun pretty well.

Grease pencils, really? I've tried those a few times myself, and while they're pretty durable, I always ended up smudging them somehow. Maybe I'm just clumsy, haha. Honestly though, I've had decent luck with industrial Sharpies. They're not perfect, but they've survived a couple years of Midwest snowstorms and scorching summers for me without fading too badly. Might be worth a shot if you're tired of the greasy smears...

Industrial Sharpies hold up pretty well, yeah, but I've noticed even those fade eventually under harsh sunlight or constant moisture. I tend to stick with laminated labels, personally—bit more work upfront but saves headaches later. Anyone tried those weatherproof stickers? Curious if they actually last...

Tried them on my garden irrigation setup about two years ago—still holding strong, even through rain and direct sun. Definitely more durable than sharpies, though I did notice the edges lifting slightly on curved surfaces. Maybe prep the surface thoroughly first? But overall, they've held up pretty well...worth a shot if laminating feels like too much hassle.

I've gotta say, my experience with those stickers wasn't quite as rosy:

- Tried them on my outdoor hose bibs and shut-off valves last summer.
- Looked great at first, but after a few months of sun and rain, they started fading pretty noticeably.
- Edges peeled up faster than I expected, even though I cleaned the surfaces beforehand (maybe not thoroughly enough?).
- Ended up going back to good ol' fashioned duct tape and sharpie—ugly, sure, but at least I can read it clearly a year later.

Maybe it's just my luck or the brand I picked, but I'd hesitate to rely solely on stickers for critical plumbing info. Could be fine for indoor pipes or sheltered spots, though...
