I've seen folks misread faded labels and close the wrong valve - never fun when you're dealing with hot water lines. Tried color coding once, but then I ran out of colors and started getting creative - ended up with a “mystery purple” that nobody could remember the meaning of. Honestly, I still find old pipes in basements that look like someone just labeled them “good luck.” Zip ties with tags are solid though, especially after you’ve had one of those “which valve did I just turn off?” moments and the hot water starts screaming at you.
