I get the storage argument, but honestly, I’ve seen just as much clutter with vanities—folks tend to cram them full of half-empty bottles and old toothpaste tubes. Pedestals force you to keep it minimal, which isn’t always a bad thing. Plumbing can be a pain, sure, but I’ve had a few jobs where the lines tucked in just fine with a little creative angling. Not saying it’s always smooth sailing, but sometimes the “headache” is overblown. Just depends how much you actually need to store, I guess.

I get what you’re saying about the storage thing—vanities do turn into junk drawers for bathroom stuff nobody actually uses. But I dunno, pedestals can be a pain if you’ve got weird plumbing runs or old pipes that don’t want to cooperate. Had one install where the drain line was just a hair off and it took way longer than it should’ve to make it look halfway decent.

That said, if you’re not hoarding products, the minimal look is pretty nice. Just gotta be ready to find another spot for your cleaning supplies or whatever. I’ve seen people stash a little basket under the pedestal or put up shelves, but honestly, it’s never quite as convenient as a vanity. Guess it comes down to whether you care more about the look or the storage.

If your pipes are already tucked in tight to the wall, it’s way less of a headache. If not... expect some cursing and maybe a few extra trips to the hardware store.

Yeah, that’s what worries me. My house is old and nothing lines up the way it should. I like the idea of a pedestal for the look, but honestly, I use that under-sink space for toilet paper and cleaning stuff. Shelves are fine, but then you’re just showing off all your clutter anyway. Not sure if the trade-off is worth it for me.

- Been there with the old house headaches. Last time I swapped out a vanity for a pedestal, I lost all my storage and ended up cramming stuff into baskets on the floor. Looked nice for about a week, then it was just chaos.
- If your pipes aren’t lined up, you’ll probably have to mess with them—sometimes even cut and reroute. Not impossible, but definitely not as quick as YouTube makes it look.
- Honestly, unless you’re really set on the look, I’d stick with something that gives you storage. Pedestals are cool until you realize you’ve got nowhere to hide the plunger...

Had the same debate last year. I get the appeal, but honestly, storage is a big deal—especially for all the eco-friendly cleaners and extra TP I like to keep handy.

Yeah, and if you’ve got kids or pets, stuff ends up everywhere. I also found the pipe rerouting trickier than I thought—had to call in a pro when I hit a snag. If you do go for it, maybe add some shelves or a wall cabinet to keep things organized and off the floor.
