"Pedestal sinks often have limited wiggle room, so if your existing plumbing isn't spot-on, you might end up redoing more than you bargained for..."

Couldn't agree more. Last year, I tackled a pedestal sink install where the drain alignment was just slightly off—ended up having to open the wall and adjust the rough-in. Definitely measure twice (or three times) beforehand...

Fair points, but isn't that true for most sink replacements anyway? Pedestal sinks can actually simplify things sometimes—less cabinetry to fuss with, easier access underneath if you ever need quick fixes. I've swapped out a few vanities where the plumbing was hidden behind drawers and shelves... talk about a headache. Maybe it's more about knowing your existing setup before diving in rather than pedestal sinks being inherently trickier?

Good points about cabinetry headaches—I’ve seen those hidden plumbing setups turn into real messes. Pedestal sinks definitely give you easier access, especially if you ever have leaks or clogs to sort out. But just a heads-up from experience: make sure your wall and flooring are in good shape before you commit. Had a job once where the drywall behind the old vanity was pretty rough, and we didn’t realize until the pedestal was ready to go in. Ended up needing extra patchwork and paint touch-ups... slowed things down quite a bit. Still, if your existing plumbing is straightforward and your wall’s decent, you’ll probably be fine. Sounds like you’ve thought it through already, so I’d say trust your gut on this one.

Pedestal sinks are great for access, but where do you stash all your bathroom clutter afterward? I swapped mine out and now my towels and cleaning stuff are homeless...any clever storage hacks to share?

Pedestal sinks definitely free up floor space, but storage can become tricky. Have you considered narrow shelving units or floating shelves above the toilet or doorway? I've installed recessed shelves between wall studs for a few clients—works great if you're comfortable with minor drywall work. Also, wall-mounted baskets or towel racks can help keep towels handy without cluttering the floor. It's all about maximizing vertical space and using overlooked areas creatively...
