Good point about checking the wall first—I learned that lesson the hard way too. Thought I'd neatly tuck a recessed cabinet into our bathroom wall, only to find electrical wiring running right through the spot. Ended up rerouting wires...not exactly the quick weekend upgrade I'd planned, lol.

Been there with the wiring surprises—never fun. A couple quick thoughts on pedestal sinks:

- Great for small spaces, opens up the room visually.
- Storage loss is real; had to get creative with wall shelves and baskets.
- Installation can be tricky if your plumbing isn't already centered neatly behind the pedestal.

Overall, no regrets here. Just prep for a bit of extra work upfront, and you'll probably love the clean look once it's done.

Yeah, I've been wondering about that storage issue myself. Pedestal sinks look great in photos, but realistically, where do you stash all the bathroom clutter? Wall shelves sound good in theory, but aren't they just another surface to dust? And baskets... I dunno, seems like they'd get messy fast.

Also curious about the plumbing alignment thing you mentioned. If it's not already centered, how tricky are we talking? Is it something a DIYer could handle with a bit of patience and YouTube, or would I be looking at hiring a plumber? Because if it's the latter, that could blow my budget pretty quick.

Honestly, I've been leaning toward a compact vanity instead—still space-saving, but with built-in storage. Anyone tried one of those slimline vanities? Wondering if they offer a decent compromise between style and practicality...

I went with a pedestal sink in our tiny guest bath last year, and honestly, I kinda regret it.

- Wall shelves did help initially, but yeah, dusting them is a pain and clutter builds up fast.
- Baskets looked cute at first, then became a dumping ground for random stuff (hair ties, toothpaste tubes).
- Plumbing alignment wasn't terrible—I managed it myself—but it took patience and lots of pausing YouTube vids.

If I could redo it, I'd try a slim vanity for sure... seems like the smarter compromise.

Haha, this hits home. We put a pedestal sink in our half-bath about six months ago, and the basket situation is exactly the same. Started cute and organized, now it's basically a black hole for floss, chapstick, and random receipts. Honestly though, props for tackling the plumbing yourself—I chickened out and called my dad halfway through. A slim vanity sounds like a solid idea if you ever redo it... hindsight's always 20/20, right?
