The shower cools when another fixture runs

When water is used elsewhere, what would help distinguish a pressure-balancing shower valve issue from a broader change in the hot or cold supply? Does it matter whether the other fixture draws hot water, cold water, or either, and whether the shower’s flow changes along with its temperature?

I’d also like to know what pressure and valve checks a plumber would use to narrow this down before recommending a repair or replacement. I don’t know what type of shower valve is involved, so I’m interested in how they’d identify that first.
