Couldn’t agree more. Had a place years back where the previous owner went wild with “advanced” drainage—French drains, gravel, weird plastic channels. All it did was trap water and make it impossible to find the real problem. Once I ripped it out and put in a simple, straight drain to daylight, the basement dried up for good.
