Basement Flooding Nightmare - Anyone Else Sick of This Mess?
Honestly, I'm about ready to just pack up and move. Every time there's heavy rain, my basement turns into a mini swimming pool. I've tried a few quick fixes - sealants, patching cracks, even rearranging gutters - but nothing's really working long-term. It's like playing whack-a-mole with water leaks, you know?
I'm starting to wonder if I need to bite the bullet and install some kind of drainage system myself. But man, the thought of digging trenches and messing around with pipes feels pretty intimidating. Plus, I'm no plumber or handyman guru...just your average homeowner trying not to drown in frustration (literally).
Has anybody else tackled basement drainage on their own? Did it actually help or just end up being another headache? Really curious if others here are dealing with the same soggy basement saga as me.

I've considered DIY drainage myself, but honestly...after pricing out materials and tools, I'm skeptical it's worth the hassle. Has anyone gotten quotes from pros? Curious if the cost difference is actually significant enough to justify DIY.
Compare like with like: ask each contractor what the quote includes, then price the same scope for DIY, including materials, tool rental or purchase, disposal, permits if required, and any work you’d need to hire out. I’d also count your time and the risk of having to redo it. A smaller price gap might not justify taking on unfamiliar digging; a large gap could, if the scope and risks are genuinely comparable.
