Water Flow Crisis Averted—Feeling Pretty Proud Right Now

Had a pretty wild day today, guys. Woke up to some weird gurgling noises and realized water was backing up into the basement sink...yikes. Luckily, remembered we had installed one of those backflow preventer thingies last year (best decision ever). After a quick panic and inspection, turns out it did exactly what it was supposed to do. Basement saved, wallet saved, sanity mostly intact, haha. Curious if anyone else has had these kinda close calls and managed to dodge disaster?

Haha, learned the hard way about DIY plumbing "creativity"... let's just say duct tape isn't always the hero we want it to be. Good tip on the rain barrels though, might finally give those a shot.
