Had a bit of a scare last night. Heard this weird dripping sound coming from the basement, and you know that sinking feeling when you just KNOW something's wrong? Yeah, turns out my water heater decided it was the perfect time to spring a leak. Luckily, I'd put together a little emergency kit a few months back after reading some random blog post (thank you, random internet stranger!). Had one of those water alarms down there, and it actually worked—beeping like crazy. Grabbed my wrench, shut off the water valve quick, and managed to stop what could've been a total disaster.
Honestly never thought I'd actually use that stuff, but man am I glad I had it handy. Got me thinking about other times being prepared saved my butt. Curious if anyone else has had one of those "thank god I had that" moments with plumbing or home repairs...
