if your washer started costing double to run, what would you change?

I was just thinking...what if electricity rates went way up and suddenly your washer was costing twice as much per load? I'd probably start washing only full loads or switch to cold water or something. Curious what you'd all do differently.

Yeah, fully agreeβ€”washing full loads is definitely more efficient. Also, consider checking your washer's filter and hoses regularly. Clogs or leaks can make the machine work harder, using even more energy...small maintenance steps can really add up over time.

Yeah, good point about maintenance. I was skeptical at first, but after noticing my washer's cycles getting longer and louder, I decided to check the hoses and filter myself. Turns out there was a ton of lint and debris stuck in thereβ€”gross, but cleaning it out made a noticeable difference. I'd also suggest checking if your machine has an eco-mode or lower temperature settings. Small adjustments like that can cut down energy use without sacrificing cleanliness...worth a shot anyway.
