Okay, so yesterday my shower drain decided it was done draining... again. Usually, I just grab the plunger and go to town, but this time it barely helped. Ended up borrowing my neighbor's drain snake thingy, and after a bit of wrestling and some gross discoveries (seriously, how much hair can one drain hold?), it finally cleared up. Now I'm wondering if I should ditch the plunger altogether and just buy my own drain snake. Curious what you guys prefer and why?
Drain snakes are definitely the way to go for stubborn clogs. Plungers are fine for quick fixes, but hair buildup needs something that can physically grab and pull it out. Plus, owning one saves you from awkward neighbor borrowing situations... been there myself.

Haha, totally relate to that neighbor situationβnothing like knocking on someone's door holding a dripping plunger. Drain snakes definitely handle hair better, but don't underestimate plungers for minor blockages or quick fixes. They're still handy to have around. I'd say keep both tools nearby; each has its moment. But yeah, for sanity's sake (and dignity), a drain snake is usually the safer bet.
