Had the same issue when I moved into my place. Previous owners installed the thermostat right next to the kitchen doorway, and every time we'd cook dinner, it thought the whole house was overheating. Ended up moving it myself—took like 20 minutes and saved me a bunch of headaches. Placement really does make a huge difference, glad you figured yours out too.

Moving the thermostat yourself can definitely be a straightforward fix, provided you're comfortable with basic wiring and patching up the wall afterward. Just make sure you choose an interior wall away from direct sunlight, drafts, or heat sources like kitchens or vents. Also, double-check your thermostat's manual—some newer models have specific placement guidelines to ensure accurate readings. If you're unsure about wiring or don't have the right tools handy, calling a pro might save you from potential headaches down the line...

Good advice here. I once moved mine to a hallway thinking it was perfect—no windows, no vents—but forgot about the recessed lighting above. Those bulbs threw off the readings constantly... lesson learned the hard way.

Haha, recessed lighting strikes again! I had a similar facepalm moment when I installed mine near the living room TV. Thought it was a genius spot—central, away from windows—but every time we had movie night, the thermostat got confused by the heat coming off that big screen. Kept wondering why the AC kicked on halfway through every film... took me weeks to connect the dots. Live and learn, right?

Had a similar issue—but mine was sunlight, believe it or not. Installed the thermostat near a hallway window (seemed logical at the time), and every afternoon it'd get blasted with direct sun, messing up the readings. Drove me nuts until I figured it out. Sometimes placement is trickier than wiring itself... Did you end up relocating yours or just tweak settings to compensate?
