Are you sure it's wiring though? Had a thermostat go nuts once, thought it was wiring too... turned out to be a dying battery. Maybe check the simple stuff first before calling in the cavalry.

Could be batteries, sure... but have you checked if the thermostat itself is level? Had a customer once whose thermostat acted up just because it was slightly tilted. Sometimes it's the weirdest little things causing trouble.

Had no idea a slight tilt could mess things up... good tip. I'd def try leveling it first—beats paying for a service call if it's something simple like that. Thermostats can be finicky little gadgets sometimes.

Leveling can definitely help, but I'd caution against assuming it's always that simple. Thermostats can indeed be finicky, but sometimes the issue runs deeper. I remember a job a few years back where the homeowner had spent days adjusting and leveling their thermostat, convinced it was just a minor tilt causing erratic behavior. Turned out, after all that fuss, the wiring behind the unit was loose and intermittently losing connection—something leveling wouldn't fix.

So yeah, give leveling a shot first—it's quick and costs nothing—but if you're still seeing weird behavior afterward, don't rule out wiring or internal issues. Thermostats aren't overly complicated devices, but they're sensitive enough that even minor electrical hiccups can cause headaches. Just keep an eye on it for a day or two after adjusting... if it's still acting up, might be time to dig deeper or call someone in.

Good points here. I'd just add:

- Definitely worth trying leveling first—easy and free.
- If you end up checking wiring yourself, remember to shut off power at the breaker first... safety first.
- Don't get discouraged, these things can be tricky sometimes.
