Ever run into those plastic threads that seem to deform even if you’re being super gentle? I’ve had a couple T-connectors where it felt like the threads just didn’t want to catch right, no matter how carefully I lined them up. Do you think it’s more about the quality of the part, or is there some trick to getting a perfect seal with cheaper connectors? I’ve also wondered if using thread tape on plastic is overkill, or if it actually helps prevent leaks in these setups...

I totally get what you mean about the threads just not wanting to catch—had the same thing happen with a cheap sprayer kit from the hardware store. I do think quality plays a big part, but sometimes even decent parts can be tricky. For me, thread tape actually helped on plastic, as long as I didn't overdo it and make the threads too bulky.

Here's what worked for me:
1. Start threading by hand, making sure it’s perfectly straight—if it resists, back off and try again.
2. One or two wraps of thread tape, not more.
3. Tighten just enough to feel resistance—plastic cracks if you go too far.

Curious if anyone's tried using a dab of silicone grease instead of tape? Wondering if that'd help with the catching issue...

I actually tried silicone grease once when I got tired of wrestling with the tape. It made the threads glide on way smoother, but I still had a tiny drip after a few days—maybe I just didn’t use enough? Tape seems to seal better for me, but the grease definitely helps with that annoying cross-threading. Just gotta be careful not to get it everywhere or things get slippery fast...

- Totally with you on the grease making things slippery—I've dropped more than one fitting because of that.
- I’ve noticed tape usually seals better, but man, sometimes it just refuses to sit right and ends up all bunched up.
- Ever try combining both? Tiny bit of grease for threading, then tape for sealing. Not sure if that's "allowed," but it worked once for me.
- Cross-threading is the bane of my existence... silicone helps, but yeah, that drip always comes back if I skip the tape.

I’ve done the grease-and-tape combo in a pinch, too. Honestly, my last sprayer install turned into a slip-n-slide situation—grease on my hands, tape stuck to my elbow, and the fitting still managed to cross-thread. Sometimes I think these things are just out to mess with us...
