Half flush never seems to work right - am I missing something?

Man, I hear you on the “surgeon hands” thing - those little plastic bits are way too easy to knock out of place. I’ve had to mess with mine a few times, and it’s always something tiny like the cable being just a hair too tight or loose. One time I thought I’d fixed it, but then the button started sticking and I had to start all over. Honestly, I wish they made these things a bit more foolproof. Still, when they work, they do save a bit on the water bill... just takes some patience (and dry hands).

Tell me about it. I swear, I spent more time fiddling with those tiny parts than actually saving water. My “half flush” is more like a “quarter flush” half the time - then I end up flushing twice and there goes the savings. Honestly, I’ve wondered the same. I swapped out a bunch of old toilets in my rentals for these “eco” models, thinking I’d be rolling in savings. Instead, I get calls about “mystery leaks” and tenants asking why they have to flush twice. Is it just me, or does the half flush only work if you’re flushing a single square of TP? Maybe I’m missing some secret plumber trick...

I’ve got one of those dual-flush toilets too, and honestly, the half flush barely does anything unless it’s just liquid. Anything more and I’m reaching for the full flush every time.
