is going tankless worth the extra cash?

So I'm finally replacing my old water heater (it's ancient, seriously surprised it hasn't flooded my basement yet) and I've been looking into tankless systems. Seems awesome to have hot water whenever, but dang, the upfront cost is kinda steep compared to a regular tank model. Anyone here made the switch? Is the convenience and energy savings really worth the extra bucks, or should I just stick with a traditional heater and save some cash upfront?

Tankless can be nice, but honestly, the savings aren't always as big as advertised. If upfront cost is a concern, a well-insulated traditional tank might be your best bang for buck option...just sayin'.

Yeah, that's kinda where I'm leaning too. I mean, tankless sounds great, but does anyone actually run out of hot water THAT often? Maybe if you've got teenagers taking hour-long showers every day, lol. For me, the extra cash upfront just doesn't seem worth it yetβ€”especially since I've got a million other homeowner expenses popping up lately. Anyone else feeling the same pinch?
