Copper vs PEX pipes—any real difference for home plumbing?

Couldn't agree more. I've had PEX installed for years now, and honestly, mice haven't been an issue—though my cat might claim credit for that. Copper's great, but PEX is just so much easier to work with...especially if you're DIY-ing it.

Yeah, sounds like you've got it covered—PEX really is DIY-friendly. Ever had any trouble with fittings leaking over time, or has it held up pretty well for you? Curious since I've seen mixed experiences on that front...

I've had PEX installed in my place for about 5 years now, and honestly, it's been pretty solid. Had one minor leak early on, but that was totally my fault—didn't crimp the fitting quite right (lesson learned!). Since then, zero issues. Seems like if you're careful with installation and double-check your connections, you're golden. Sounds like you're already on the right track though...good luck with it!
