Last weekend my sump pump decided to quit at the worst possible time (of course, right?). After scrambling around, here's what I ended up doing: unplugged it first, checked the float switch wasn't stuck, cleared debris from the pit, and then plugged it back in. When that didn't work, I had a backup pump ready to go and hooked it up quick. But um, does anyone have a better method or some tips I might've missed?
