Okay, so the last big storm we had, my backyard basically turned into a mini lake. I'm talking ducks could've moved in and been right at home. 😅 It got me thinking about how everyone else deals with heavy rain runoff around their homes or neighborhoods.

I've seen some neighbors putting in rain barrels to catch water from gutters, and another friend mentioned planting certain shrubs and grasses that soak up water better. I even heard someone talking about permeable paving for drivewaysβ€”didn't even know that was a thing until recently.

Anyway, thought I'd throw together a quick poll to see what most people here prefer or have tried out themselves:

What's your go-to method for dealing with heavy rain runoff?

1. Rain barrels or cisterns
2. Rain gardens or special landscaping
3. Permeable pavement or gravel driveways
4. French drains or underground drainage systems
5. Honestly... nothing yet, just hoping for the best 🙈

Feel free to drop any stories or experiences you've had with these methods tooβ€”I'm still figuring out what might work best for my swampy backyard situation, haha.
