Totally agree about the leaksβbeen there, done that, and got the soggy ceiling stains to prove it. One thing I'd add is to spend some extra time planning out the pipe runs and positioning. I rushed mine at first and ended up with some awkward angles that made insulating a real pain (literally, fiberglass itch is no joke...). Also, watch out for overheating issues. My neighbor's DIY solar setup didn't have proper temperature control, and he ended up with scalding hot water shooting out of his taps on sunny days. Funny story now, but not so much when you're jumping back from the shower like it's lava.
Honestly, even if you're pretty handy, I'd second the recommendation to have someone experienced double-check your design before you commit. A little extra prep can save a whole lotta headaches later.
