How should roof-work allowances be handled in a solar water-heater quote?
If one solar water-heater quote includes a roof-access allowance or possible structural work while another leaves those items conditional, what would you ask to make the estimates comparable? I’d want to know what inspection findings would actually justify reinforcement, and whether access equipment, permits, or roof repairs are included or just provisional.
How should unused allowances be credited, and how should any extra work be priced and approved before it starts? I don’t want to assume every roof needs reinforcement, but I also don’t want a low quote that leaves necessary work unclear.
