For everyday use, how much of a nuisance is the pop-up mechanism to adjust or maintain compared with the simpler cleaning around a grid strainer? I’m also curious what matters for compatibility: are the sink’s drain opening and overflow the main things to match to the drain style?

When comparing a recycled-glass sink with a ceramic one, how do their surfaces generally differ in resistance to scratches, chips, and stains? If either material gets damaged, are repairs practical, or is replacement usually the realistic option?

I’d also like to know what care instructions are worth checking before choosing, and how to verify a manufacturer’s recycled-content claim. Is there documentation that’s more useful than a broad “eco-friendly” label? I wouldn’t want to treat recycled content alone as proof that a sink is the more sustainable choice.

For a sink with a visible overflow opening, what gentle tool or cleaner is suitable for that channel? I’d also like to know how to tell an odor coming from the overflow apart from a basin that’s draining slowly, since those may need different fixes. Does the channel’s layout vary enough by sink that the safest approach depends on the model?

I’m comparing quotes for replacing an existing bathroom vanity and want to make sure I’m comparing the same scope of work. The replacement will be the same width, but I’m not yet sure whether the countertop and sink can be reused without adjustments.

Should the quote clearly state whether it includes:

- Removing the old cabinet, countertop, sink, and faucet
- Disconnecting and reconnecting the water supplies and drain
- Adjusting shutoff valves or the drain if the new cabinet changes clearances
- Removing and reinstalling the countertop, or supplying a new one
- Faucet and sink installation, caulking, and leak testing
- Wall or floor patching after removal
- Debris disposal and haul-away

I’m especially concerned about change orders if the existing drain or shutoffs don’t line up with the new vanity, or if the countertop is damaged during removal. For those who’ve compared installation quotes, which omissions caused problems, and what wording did you look for before approving the work?
