I’ve wondered about those air blasters too—seems like they’d either be super satisfying or a total mess. I’ve stuck with the plunger and a decent auger so far, but I did borrow a friend’s air blaster once for a stubborn toilet clog. It worked... sort of. The clog moved, but then it just jammed up further down the line and I had to break out the snake anyway. Maybe they’re better for sinks? Or maybe my technique was just off. Anyone actually had one save the day?

Air blasters are a bit like those “As Seen on TV” gadgets—seems like a great idea until you’re ankle-deep in regret (and water). I tried one once after a tenant called about a “minor” backup. The thing sounded like a cannon going off, scared the cat, and just made the clog angry. Ended up snaking it anyway. Still, I’ve heard some folks swear by them for kitchen sinks. Maybe it’s all about timing or just dumb luck? Ever had one backfire and make things worse?

Yeah, I’ve had one of those air blasters make things worse—shot gunk everywhere and didn’t even budge the clog. Honestly, I just keep a good old plunger and a basic drain snake handy. Way cheaper, less drama, and they actually work most of the time. Those gadgets sound cool, but I’d rather save my money for something that won’t turn my kitchen into a war zone.

I get where you’re coming from, but I’ve found a wet/dry shop vac can be a game changer for certain backups—especially when you’re dealing with standing water before you even get to the clog. Ever tried one for kitchen or bathroom drains? Curious if you’ve had any luck with that, or if it’s just me who swears by it.

I’ve actually tried the shop vac trick a couple times, mostly in the bathroom. It’s worked for me when there’s water just sitting there and nothing else is moving. I will say, though, sometimes it just buys you time before you have to snake it anyway. Ever had it just pull up a bunch of gunk but not really clear the clog? That’s happened to me with kitchen sinks especially. Still, way better than mopping up by hand...
