What do you want to preserve on camera before cleaning a sewer line?
Heavy deposits, roots, or standing water can make it hard to see the pipe wall, but cleaning first may remove evidence of what caused the blockage. How do you decide when to capture pre-cleaning footage before clearing the line, and what details make that footage useful even if visibility is poor?
After cleaning, what findings do you make sure to document so the record shows the pipe’s condition, not just that the obstruction is gone? I’m especially curious how you handle cases where the first pass is murky but the cleaned line reveals a different picture.

A short pre-cleaning recording is useful when it can be made safely without delaying urgent clearing, especially if the obstruction may reveal what caused the problem. If waiting could worsen damage or create a health risk, clear the line first. Even when visibility is poor, note the location and direction of the camera, distance or landmarks, and what is actually visible; label uncertainty rather than treating an unclear shape as a pipe defect.
