drain inspection cams: wired vs wireless, what's your pick?

I've had decent luck with wireless too, but honestly, after fishing mine out of a drain once (long story involving butterfingers and a slippery basement floor...), I've been thinking about switching to wired. Anyone here tried both and noticed a big difference in image quality or lag? Curious if wired is worth the hassle of dealing with cables.

I switched from wireless to wired about a year ago after my own "incident" involving a curious raccoon and a loose grate... anyway, here's my two cents. Wired cams definitely give you a more consistent image quality—less interference, fewer dropouts. Lag is noticeably reduced too, especially if you're navigating tight turns or tricky spots. Yeah, cables can be a pain, but honestly, zip ties and some patience go a long way. Plus, no more fishing expeditions into drains for runaway cameras...

Couldn't agree more. I switched to wired cams myself after dealing with constant signal drops in older buildings—those thick walls and metal pipes really mess with wireless signals. Sure, threading cables through tight spaces isn't exactly fun, but the reliability boost is worth every scraped knuckle. Plus, troubleshooting becomes way simpler when you don't have to guess if it's interference or just a dead battery...

Totally agree on the troubleshooting point—wired setups definitely simplify things. I've noticed wireless cams can struggle even more when you're inspecting drains below ground level, especially if there's moisture or corrosion around. Wired cams might be a hassle initially, but once they're set up, you rarely have to mess with them again. Plus, the image quality tends to stay consistently clear, which makes spotting cracks or blockages way easier...worth the extra effort in my book.

Yep, learned this the hard way when I tried a wireless cam for my first DIY drain inspection. Thought I'd be clever and avoid cables—ended up losing signal halfway down the pipe and spent an hour waving the receiver around like a wizard trying to reconnect. Wired cams might mean wrestling with cables at first, but at least you won't look like you're casting spells in your backyard...lesson learned.
